Built during the second half of the 16th century by the Emperor Akbar, Fatehpur Sikri (the City of Victory) was the capital of the Mughal Empire for only some 10 years. These beautiful earrings echo Mughal architecture in red and gold.
Sarus is handcrafted with love in Uttar Pradesh’s villages by craftspersons and housewives who have little or no education. SFA Studio, a jewellery company set up by Sachin and Aarti of Delhi, provide villagers with artisanal skills training and employment opportunities. The craftspersons are paid fair wages and with the skills training, have access to sustainable streams of income. Indiigo Culture, in collaboration with SFA Studio, is proud to present our first collection of earrings, crafted from resin, thread, wood, beads, and hypoallergenic metals. Sarus is named after the Sarus Crane, the state bird of Uttar Pradesh, a symbol of eternal love, devotion, and good fortune.
