The buffalo is considered a treasured animal in Vietnam and many parts of Asia for its ability to plough the rice fields. Used for centuries for their milk and meat, the horns are usually discarded and left for the landfills. This necklace instead repurposes the horns and is named to honour the animal.
Hòa, from Vietnam, has been making jewellery for over 20 years. Living in picturesque Hoi An, she draws inspiration from the ocean and rice fields and uses natural materials like corals, cotton, leather, pearls in her pieces. With her artist husband, the couple runs an annual free summer art programme for children in their community.
